DAY
1

Travel West Air Safari to Central Australia & the Kimberley

Professionally guided by Graham & Deb from Travel West, this 9 day-8 night journey from Brisbane will visit Longreach, Birdsville, over Lake Eyre to Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock, Kununurra, Broome & Alice Springs. Graham will provide commentary & entertain you all the way with history, geography and stories about driving road trains & carting cattle in the Kimberley and the Territory.

2

DEPART BRISBANE
We fly out of Brisbane in a SAAB 340 and fly low over Carnarvon Gorge enroute to Longreach. Our visit to Longreach includes a visit to the QANTAS Founders Museum, Stockman's Hall of Fame and Sunset Cruise on the Thomson River.

LONGREACH » BIRDSVILLE
Today we head to Birdsville and stay at the iconic Birdsville Hotel. Enjoy watching the sun set over the Simpson Desert from the verandah of the Birdsville Pub. See why Birdsville is such a popular place for travellers to escape the city and experience the Australian Desert first hand.

BIRDSVILLE » COOBER PEDY
Departing this morning we'll fly over Big Red, the tallest of the sand dunes in the Simpson Desert, before following the Diamantina River to Goyder Lagoon and over amazing Lake Eyre. Graham will point out the Birdsville Track and Oodnadatta Track today. Our destination is Coober Pedy where you will have the opportunity to see an underground mine and displays of precious opals.

COOBER PEDY » AYERS ROCK
Today we'll see the greatest outback icon in Australia, Ayers Rock. We'll also do a tour of the Olgas and experience 'the Sounds of Silence' as we dine under the canopy of the desert night, while a story teller shares tales as told in the stars.

AYERS ROCK » KUNUNURRA
After a final breath-taking look at Ayers Rock, we're off to The Kimberley. Enroute to Kununurra we'll do some scenic flying over the distinctive beehive formation of the Bungles Bungles, see the Argyle Diamond Mine & Lake Argyle before we land at Kununurra, the key service town for the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and the Argyle Diamond Mine. Here will we spend 3 nights at the Kununurra Country Club Resort.

BROOME
Today will be a highlight as we head to Broome via the Horizontal Falls, Buccaneer Archipelago and then follow the stunning coastline down to Broome, often referred to as the Southern Gateway to the Kimberley. Learn about the pearl farming and see some beautiful displays of this incredible jewel. Watch the sunset over Cable Beach beach and have dinner before we return to Kununurra.

LAKE ARGYLE AND ORD RIVER
We'll enjoy a day on the ground today touring Lake Argyle, and enjoying an Ord River Cruise. Also hear the story of The Duracks and how they settled in The Kimberley and visit the old homestead.

KUNUNURRA » ALICE SPRINGS
Time to start our journey east with our last evening in Alice Springs. Whilst in the "The Alice" we'll visit the National Road Transport Hall of Fame, a  presentation of Australia's unique road transport heritage.

ALICE SPRINGS » BRISBANE
We're off to Birdsville for lunch at the prize-winning bakery, before flying via Charleville back into Brisbane !
